The article deals with the influence of the mediator languages (Polish and Russian) on the sound image of the borrowed German lexemes in the process of their gradual adaptation to the norms of the Slavic languages. The mediator languages contribute to vocalic changes, consonant transformations, modifications of the prosodic structure of a borrowed word – changes of the syllable type and syllabic volume.
