| Abstract: | Статья посвящена анализу структуры гиперо-гипонимической иерархии «названия животных» в английском языке. Данная иерархия, построенная на материале WordNet, имеет весьма разветвленную структуру, превосходящую, согласно имеющимся описаниям, по своей сложности аналогичные иерархии зоонимов в других языках. На базе проведенного сравнения в статье приводятся ключевые структурные различия и сходства между исследуемой и описанными ранее иерархиями «названия животных», а также свидетельства того, что в основе рассмотренных иерархий лежат общие организующие принципы. | Description: | Miakhouski A. The Structure of the Hyper-Hyponymic Hierarchy “Animal Designations” in the English Language. The article examines the structure of the hyper-hyponymic hierarchy “animal designators” in the English language. Based on the data taken from WordNet, the hierarchy in question has a deep branching structure, which exceeds respective hierarchies of “animal designators” in other languages. The research conducted has revealed major structural differences as well as similarities between the hierarchy based on WordNet and other hierarchies of “animal designators”. The similarities discerned have provided enough evidence to infer that the same organising principles underlie these hierarchies.
