| Abstract: | Предметом рассмотрения являются предпосылки возникновения англоязычной периодики Китая в первой половине XIX века. К ним относятся высокий уровень производства, наращивание объемов внешней торговли и экспорта, слабое развитие информационно¬рекламной составляющей данных процессов, а также насущная потребность китайского общества в преодолении политики самоизоляции. У истоков англоязычной прессы Китая находились иностранцы, поэтому первоначально страна рассматривалась в качестве объекта информационного и политического воздействия. Но уже к концу Х!Х в. в редакционной практике англоязычных изданий Китай превращается в субъект политики, обладающий собственной точкой зрения на события в мире. | Description: | Wang Xiaonan, Konev E. Basic Preconditions for the Origin of the English-Language Periodicals of China. The subject of this research is the preconditions for the emergence of English-language periodicals in China in the first half of the 19th century. These include a high level of production, an increase in foreign trade and exports, insufficient development of the information and advertising component of these processes, as well as an urgent need for the Chinese society to overcome the policy of self-isolation. Foreigners were at the origin of China’s English-language press, therefore initially the country was considered as a target of information and political influence. But by the end of the 19th century, in the editorial practice of English-language publications, China was turning into a subject of politics with its own point of view on world events.
