| Abstract: | В статье на материале «Этимологического словаря латышского языка» анализируются значения двусложных глаголов с суффиксом -ē-. В современном латышском языке только этот старый суффикс не является указанием на спряжение глагола. Анализ проводится с точки зрения словообразующей базы и полученного категориального значения (в частности, каузативного и итеративно-дуративного). Анализ показал наличие связи между историческим значением суффикса -ē- и спряжением глагола. |
| Description: | Dubasova A. V. Latvian Verbs Ending in -ēt: Overview of Reconstructed Meanings. The article analyzes the meanings of disyllabic Latvian verbs with the suffix -ē- in terms of the word-forming base (verb’s origin) and the resulting categorial meaning. The analysis showed a clear impact of the historical meaning of the suffix -ē- on the conjugation of the verb and revealed that the opposition of causativity and iterativity-durativity has played an important role in Latvian morphology development. |
