| Abstract: | Особенностью американского сленга в отличие от литературного языка является наличие значительного количества экзоцентричных сложных слов, среди которых можно выделить так называемые бахуврихи, или посессивно-метонимические сложные слова. В статье рассматриваются семантические, словообразовательные, структурные особенности анализируемого пласта лексики. Также осуществляется анализ специфики области-источника, включающей определяемую и определяющую основы, и области-цели, на основании чего выделяются 10 ведущих структурно-семантических моделей сложных слов класса бахуврихи в американском сленге. |
| Description: | Vorobei A. N. The Structure and Semantics of Bahuvrihi in American Slang. Bahuvrihi compounds are exocentric compounds which name a person or an object on the basis of their parts. These compounds are widely spread in English substandard systems due to the emotional colouring of bahuvrihi which is the result of simultaneous cooperation of composition and semantic derivation (more often metonymy). From the semantic point of view, the greatest number of bahuvrihi are names of people; the leading group being names of people according to their intellectual abilities. The article describes 10 structural-semantic patterns of bahuvrihi compounds, in which the second component is more often the name of a body part, while the first component can be a noun, an adjective or a verb. |
