| dc.description | Hulak D. Axiological Transformation of the American Indian Character in the novel Laughing Boy by Oliver La Farge. The article analyzes the fictional interpretation of a Native American in the novel Laughing boy (1929) by Oliver La Farge. Although the novel belongs to mainstream American literature and presents Indians as “vanished people”, it also reflects the values inherent to the literature of Native American Renaissance. The Indian protagonist is viewed as an implementation of the archetype of the Other within the American frontier history. The article concludes that the protagonist of Laughing Boy indicates transformation of an American Indian character in line with the concept of post-frontier literature. | en_US |
