| dc.description | Aliakseyenka Y. Deconstruction of W. Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Hamlet” in S. Rushdie’s “Yorick”. In his short story “Yorick”, included in the East, West collection, an Indian-born British writer S. Rushdie deconstructs W. Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. The following levels of the canonical play are subjected to changes: 1) plot; 2) chronotope; 3) narrative; 4) system of characters; 5) genre. The text contains both references to other great tragedies of the English playwright (Othello, King Lear) and allusions to classic Anglophone novels (L. Sterne’s The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, E. Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea). Intertextuality becomes part of the dialogue between Western and Eastern cultures. In the image of Yorick’s son, the author embodies the postcolonial concept of hybrid identity. | dc.description.abstract | Британский писатель индийского происхождения С. Рушди в рассказе «Йорик», включенном в сборник малой прозы «Восток, Запад», обращается к рецепции трагедии У. Шекспира «Гамлет, принц датский». Каноническая пьеса подвергается деконструкции на следующих уровнях поэтики: 1) сюжет; 2) хронотоп; 3) нарратив; 4) система действующих лиц; 5) жанр. Автор вкрапляет в текст как отсылки к иным великим трагедиям английского драматурга («Отелло», «Король Лир»), так и аллюзии на классический роман «Жизнь и мнения Тристрама Шенди, джентльмена» Л. Стерна и повесть «Старик и море» Э. Хэмингуэя. В образе сына Йорика реализуется постколониальная концепция гибридной идентичности. Важной составляющей диалога культур является интертектстуальная игра.
