| Abstract: | В статье рассматриваются проблемы художественного перевода разговорных и просторечных единиц, использованных в романе Мариам Петросян «Дом, в котором…». Проанализированы приемы и способы передачи стилистически маркированных слов и выражений при переводе на английский язык: замена нейтральной лексикой, подбор относительных эквивалентов, описательный перевод, прием смыслового развития, компенсация. Отмечены случаи отсутствия перевода на английский язык стилистически маркированных слов, использованных в оригинальном тексте. Ключевые слова: художественный перевод; эквивалентность; разговорная лексика; просторечная лексика; стилистически нейтральные слова. |
| Description: | Ksiandzova A., Burenkova A. Translation of Colloquial and Vernacular Words in a Literary Text (Based on the Novel The Gray House by Mariam Petrosyan and its Translation into English. The article deals with the problems of literary translation of colloquial and vernacular words used in Mariam Petrosyan’s novel The Gray House. The techniques and methods of rendering stylistically marked words and expressions when translating into English are analyzed: replacement with neutral vocabulary, selection of relative equivalents, descriptive translation, the device of meaning extension, compensation. Cases of lack of translation into English of stylistically marked words used in the original text are presented in the article. Key words: literary translation; equivalence; colloquial words; vernacular words; stylistically neutral words. |
