The article considers the modern approaches to the study of questions of homonymy in Italian lexicology and lexicography. The issues of the conceptual apparatus, the definition of the semantic boundaries of homonymy, the classification of homonyms, the problem of differentiation of homonymy and polysemy, as well as the problems of lexicographic representation of homonyms in their connection with the distinction between homonymy and polysemy and the definition of the concept of "homonyms" are considered.
