The article considers the reasons lying at the core of the speaker’s decision to refuse to realize the communicative intention. Their correlation with the components of the communication situation is established. The paper proposes a classification of reasons, which distinguishes two groups: the first one is closely linked to the participants of communication, the second one – to the conditions of communication.
